Will Remote/Virtual Admissions Become Popular?

So what do you think? Many of you who work with online students know the virtual interview has been effective for decades, but what about the rest of you?

Now that you've had some practice (and experienced student reactions), what are you seeing?

Yes, definitely!

I'm seeing that prospective students are showing up at much higher rates that the traditional visit. This only goes to show you that having options and flexibility can attract those who don't have the time, desire or are early on in the buying cycle.

I believe many schools/colleges will see great success if they keep this going even after on-campus resumes.

I think many businesses/industries have discovered that it can be business as usual even if offices are scattered around. For students particularly, the ability to connect with an advisor on a level they're more comfortable with, Zoom/FaceTime, etc., may prove to be more efficient. Also, when you see someone living what you're living, quarantine, working from the kitchen table, etc. may prove to be less intimidating.

Those are some great points in my opinion. I especially agree with the idea that shared experiences like working from the kitchen table bring everyone to the same level.

Personally, I think it has had some success because it is more on the student's time per se.  They get to be in their own comfort zone instead of sitting in an admissions office and I think it helps to break down barriers a little quicker.

Also, with schools that focus in online education or even a blended format like many schools are doing now, it has helped bringing in technology from the very beginning of their educational journey.

Kelly, these are some great insights. I especially like your comment about hybrid/blended formats and engaging students from the beginning with the technology they will encounter in their program of choice.  It really helps to uncover any potential 'tech' challenges a prospective student might have which could affect their comfort or ability.   Thanks!

Thank you for a thoughtful reply.  No one method is ever best for all prospective students.  Just like we have different types of learners who lean more toward auditory, visual or kinetic types of learning, the same type of challenge/opportunity arises when you are engaging them in admissions.  EnrollMatch offers multiple tools to find the best way to engage students.  Your challenge is to discover what type a prospective student prefers most.
