What are 1-2 things that you notice about the students you are meeting with now in comparison to a few years ago? Or pre-Covid?
I noticed that students prefer to be speak through text than a phone call. It's easier for them since people are so busy but it would be easier for us as admissions reps to get to know the student better and to explain the school and programs better.
1 thing that I notice with students now is that the potential student is just as comfortable (in a lot of cases) with receiving information via virtual platforms as they are with receiving the information in person.
Exactly, Glenn! Do you think this makes them more comfortable? How do you think it makes the rep feel?
Many students come to us well into the buying cycle and are used to communicating via text. Often these texts can be transactional (tuition cost, duration etc.) and can be a challenge to build rapport.
Kurtis -
You are completely correct. So much can be read into text messages and even emails that building rapport would be extremely challenging. What techniques have you implemented to overcome this challenge as much as you can?
Thank you for sharing!
Angi,
With our teams in California, we are really trying to spend more time with embracing the different platforms (zoom, text etc.) of engaging with students vs. being anti-change. The main way to do this is by educating ourselves on how these platforms work and what are best practices of these platforms that are being used by other agencies (in education and outside of education).
