Whew! Where does one start! The biggest challenge was redirecting the daily routine to include a house full of family, learning an elementary school eLearning platform over a weekend, becoming a home school teacher, all the while maintaining my work schedule. With work, the amount of time online exponentially rose as well since we were no longer in the office. Luckily, our office was poised to work remotely and no time was lost, but when all of a sudden you're always working with each other behind a computer screen was a big shift!

My biggest challenge for Q1 was adapting to time management. I am a person who sets personal goals for myself daily. It was difficult to meet them with interviews running longer than what I am used to due to having to do everything online. It was challenging especially when your potential student is not familiar with Zoom. One great thing this has done for me is strengthened my conversations with students. I find myself less focused on hitting points and more focused on getting to know my students. I find if I just continue to have quality conversations the questions come a little more naturally and less like I am reading from a list.

Hi Michelle-

I love your honesty here!  Adapting to a new structure and schedule can feel a bit off at first, but I am glad that you see the bigger picture which is connecting with your students.
I feel the same way that you do because when you fall into a rhythm of how things are supposed to work and then changes happen and it starts to feel uncomfortable.  And that is what we call getting gritty, so congrats to you for allowing yourself to get uncomfortable and refine your skills!
