Great question, Kelly! One of my favorite quotes is "It always seems impossible until it's done". We face a lot of challenges during our professional careers and a lot of tasks can seem very daunting, but if you break them down, one step at a time, you can accomplish anything with the right attitude and a heavy dose of patience.
Great quote Jim! I was just reading an article yesterday about how emotionally intelligent people should "trick" themselves into working on hard tasks by following a five minute rule. Basically the gist of it was that when you need start working on a large and difficult project it is often hard to actually get started because you are thinking about everything that needs to be done before that project is completed. So, tell yourself you are going to start on it for 5 minutes and then you can move on to something else for 5 minutes. And here is the actual trick, when your timer goes off you are too invested to walk away after only 5 minutes and you tell yourself that wasn't so bad I'll do 5 more etc etc. Before you know the project is half way done and you have probably only invested a couple of dedicated hours. Might seem impossible to see the end line until it is done, but afterwards you realize how possible it really is :)
