Favorite Question

Tell me what is your absolute favorite question to ask a prospective student and why?

I am curious to see if the responses are similar or very different from each other.

I like to ask: How will meeting this goal change your life? Responses lend insight on the student's support circle and direct the conversation to highlight program and school features that align with the student's vision for themselves.

    I think that my favorite- that fits well into the framework of SEA, is what I think is the best "opening" question there is: "Tell me about your current situation". SO many possible answers and follow up questions to be had as a result of that question!

    I agree. The responses are endless and it really can help build the relationship because it just opens the door to a comfortable communication.

    One of my favorite questions to ask is, "what are your expectation from the school you choose for your education?". This question allows the student to open up a little about previous experiences at other schools that may not met their needs, or share what they hope to be offered at our school. When the student is able to share some of these things, I can empathize and maybe even give a relatable example. I can then share what we have to offer and how we would be set apart from other institutions, and what they can expect from us. Sharing how we are student success driven and passionate about their success, helps the student make an educated decision as to if we are a good fit for them.

    That is a great question Jacob! It allows the door to be open to best understand what would be a benefit and a value to them.
