Exploration and Informed Assessment

Although the environment we interact with prospective students may have changed as a result of COVID-19, the manner in which we interact with them has not. One of the most essential components of the SEA is the meaningful exploration that you do with each student in order to determine both their true motivation for change and their best fit within your educational framework. What are your "go to" methods as learned within the SEA framework for doing this effectively with as many of your future students as possible? Can't wait to hear your responses!

I actually just was discussing this with someone who works in student advising. The key remains: Effective Questioning and Listening. These two elements (when done exceptionally well) control the speed and the effectiveness of the advising session.

It takes lots and lots of practice to get really good at this but that's ok...that's why we're all here!
